Geosynthetic membrane application pain points

1:Environmental stress cracking resistance

HDPE geomembrane uses resin with a density ranging from 0.935 to 0.940 g/cm³ and exhibits high crystallinity, while LLDPE film uses resin with a density ranging from 0.919 to 0.925 g/cm³ and exhibits low crystallinity. As a material for sealing and covering fields, resistance to environmental stress cracking is an important performance characteristic.

2:Uneven settlement

After a landfill is closed, uneven settlement of landfill waste can create local depressions. The closure material will undergo large deformations as the terrain changes. If the deformability of the closure material is small, it will cause increased stress, which will lead to cracking of the closure material under stress.

3:Geomembrane bulging and stress concentration

Gas accumulates under the geomembrane, forming local bulges, which can lead to tensile deformation or even rupture of the membrane material.

4:High-pressure biogas impact and fatigue damage

Fluctuations in biogas pressure (usually requiring withstanding 5-10 kPa) cause the membrane to repeatedly expand and contract, making welds prone to fatigue cracking.

1:Superior Performance

In landfill closure applications, LLDPE membranes possess the same superior performance as HDPE membranes (high tensile strength, high water vapor barrier properties, and high methane gas barrier properties) to meet the requirements of closure technical specifications.

2:High multi-axis elongation rate

In the application of landfill capping, the uneven settlement of landfill waste and the methane gas generated. During the degradation process of waste impose higher requirements on the multi-axis elongation rate of the capping membrane. LLDPE geomembrane has better flexibility and higher multi-axis elongation rate than HDPE film. The multi-axis elongation rate of HDPE is around 15%, while that of LLDPE can reach more than 30%.
